Steelwork Corrosion Control. By D. A. Bayliss and K. A. Chandler. Elsevier Applied Science. 459 pp. (ISBN 1-85166-575-7)

This is, according to the preface, a comprehensive revision of a book published in 1985 designed for engineers, architects and designers, for whom the protection of structural steelwork is an important but comparatively minor part of their total professional activities. The book deals with the corrosion of steel, surface preparation, paints and paint coatings, paint application, specialist coatings and applications, metal coatings, specifications, quality control of coating operations, designing for corrosion control, maintenance painting, corrosion methods other than coatings, coating defects and failures, the selection of coating systems, protective systems for different situations, testing of coatings and safety. As a reference volume this looks extremely useful for those involved with specifying protection to steelwork and the authors look to be well-informed in their subject area. It is very readable and clearly intended for non-specialists. Steel Structures/Composite Steel Structures/Aluminium Structures-Recent Research and Development. Elsevier Applied Science. (3 volume set.) Steel Structures 1004 pp. Composite Steel Structures 196 pp. Aluminium Structures 181 pp. (hardback). (ISBN 1-85166-636-2)
